Watauga Medical Center

The Watauga Medical Center is located in Boone, North Carolina and serves the community of Boone, Watauga County and all surrounding counties in North Carolina and Tennessee. The Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The 117-bed facility offers both primary and secondary acute and specialty care offering cancer treatment, cardiac catheterization and rehabilitative services. Their Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center is recognized as an approved community cancer care center by the American College of Surgeon's Committee on Cancer.

The other units connected with Watauga Medical Center are The Paul H. Broyhill Wellness, The Rehabilitation Center, ARHS Home Health (for home care services), Appalachian Regional Sleep Clinic, Appalachian Pain Clinic and a branch of the Northwest Area Health Education Center. In addition to their already wonderful facilities, Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute also have an office on the medical campus. Each year Watauga Medical Center has sought to grow along with the needs of their surrounding community.

In 2004, after growing demand from the community to have a place for mammography screening, Watauga Medical Center completed a major $22 million capital expansion project which added an outpatient imaging center. In 2006, an open MRI was added into the overall facility and in 2007 a new expanded Emergency Department was opened. Most recently in 2008, the center added a digital mammography area. The caring staff of more than 125 full-time practicing physicians have made it their goal to provide the best possible care and it shows.
